Motown Meets The Beatles
« on: February 26, 2005, 10:09:28 PM »

I bought this CD today. It's a compilation of Beatles (and Paul, John and George solo) songs by Motown artists. I like it, it's probably a tie with I Am Sam for best Beatles cover album I'v heard so far.

Check out Stevie Wonders We Can Work It Out...Very soulful. ;) I'll have to give it another listen. Good interesting liner notes from what I remember.

My copy doesn't have any liner notes.

This is the track listing:

1 Marvin Gaye - Yesterday
2 Diana Ross - Long And Winding Road
3 Stevie Wonder - We Can Work It Out
4 Four Tops - Eleanor Rigby
5 Temptations - Hey Jude
6 Supremes - A Hard Day's Night
7 Gladay Knight & The Pips - Let It Be
8 Four Tops - Fool On The Hill
9 Supremes - Come Together
10 Martha Reeves & The Vandellas - Something
11 Smokey Robinson - And I Love Her
12 Syreeta - She's Leaving Home
13 Supremes - You Can't Do That
14 Junior Walker - My Love
15 Diana Ross - Imagine
16 Four Tops - Michelle
17 Edwin Starr - My Sweet Lord

The only downside is that some of these artists are improvising a bit too much with the songs for my taste.

They'd have to keep the harpsychord-like piano solo though. "In My Life" isn't "In My Life" without it.
