Moogmodule:  Do you know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall?

I can't resist asking:  What would it be like to record in a White Room with Black Curtains?

"I'll sleep in this place with the lonely crowd
Lie in the dark where the shadows run from themselves"

Well. My home studio had off white walls and a black roller blind.  Is that close enough?

Moogmodule:  I think a Black Room with White Curtains might be more interesting.  I mean have you ever seen black walls anywhere?

I've seen a few YouTube videos in which artists have taken their instruments to the great outdoors such as on a mountain, near a cliff, in or near a field (such as with cows grazing in it, also elephants).

I thought this would constitute great sound but it seems to be that the open air environment is so huge it doesn't contain the sound.  It doesn't amplify it.  It seems to eat it up (like absorbing it).  Therefore, I've felt disappointed.

Yes, but sometimes the geography can yield fine acoustics...

10)  When recording, would you utilize headphones to listen to your music or would you prefer to listen to an open air environment?

As Nim said definitely both. A good neutral set of monitoring headphones lets you listen as closely to what is recorded as possible without room acoustics misleading you. But you also want to hear what your tune sounds like blasted out over speakers.

I once had an issue with standing waves which accentuated the bass when I listened through monitor speakers. So I’d then mix it to reduce the bass. Lo and behold the final mix would be too thin and trebly when listened to anywhere but in front of my speakers. So I made sure to always listen to mixes both ways, as well as doing some studio rearranging to try to solve the wave problem itself.

Wasn’t an empty amphitheatre in Tunisia a proposal for the Beatles concert as the culmination of the Let it Be sessions?

Interesting. . . even though I am not a musician I've been absorbed in this discussion.

So it is said.  I wonder who came up with that idea?
