Storeys of their lives
They started out as four unknown lads in a Liverpool basement and played their last gig on a London rooftop, the city's most famous sons.
Today the Daily Post reveals the first of 110 paintings specially commissioned to depict John, Paul, George and Ringo's musical journey.
The canvases, the first somewhat biblically titled "the birth of Ringo", will be exhibited in chronological order on seven floors at Liverpool's new J17million ($31 million) Hard Days Night hotel.
Starting in the basement of the hotel, the first to be entirely themed in tribute to the Beatles, the exhibition will tell the band's story from the days when the Quarrymen were gigging in the Cavern.
It will finish on the hotel's sixth floor with images inspired by their final live performance on the roof of Apple's London studios in 1969.
The four-star hotel on the corner of North John Street is due to open with a huge party in autumn 2007, and is now half way through construction.
In the last year, two extra floors have been added on top of the building's original roof level, making it six storeys high and ensuring magnificent views across the city for visitors.
Builders this week started renovation of a magnificent 19th century winding staircase, one of several original features to be preserved in the refurbishment.
Bill Heckle and his team at Cavern City Tours (CCT), who first conceived the idea more than a decade ago, will maintain a non-executive directorship.
CCT will run an information kiosk in the hotel foyer, where guests will get details about the group's Magical Mystery bus tours around the city.
Last night Mr Heckle said the hotel's opening night would be "the biggest party Liverpool has ever seen".
He said: "People are going to be really impressed. Because it is about the Beatles they think we're going to have Beatles wallpaper or something.
"But it's going to be very plush, very tasteful, and all the Beatles paintings and features are going to be very subtle."
The hotel will also include conference and meeting facilities with a "Beatles twist", an exclusive bar and four-star restaurant.
The team are to begin an international marketing campaign at trade fairs in Louisville (USA) and Hamburg next week.
An American artist known only as Shannon has been commissioned to produce an original painting for each of 110 rooms.
A smaller version of each piece will hang outside the rooms, so people can follow the exhibition up through each floor on their way up from the club.
Mr Heckle could not disclose how much the artist is being paid, but her works are known to sell for between J2,000 ($3,685) and J10,000 ($18,425) each.
He said: "Shannon is renowned as the world's greatest Beatles artist, her paintings are magnificent and we are proud to be displaying her work."
Shannon, whose big name clients are said to include Sylvester Stallone and Ringo, said she had heard through friends that Sir Paul McCartney is a fan of her work.
She said: "I was gobsmacked when Bill Heckle called me to do this job. I've been painting the Beatles since I was six-years-old.
"To have my work in the city they are from, and to have so many fans see the paintings is a real honour for me."
Central Buildings were built in 1884. The huge office block was designed by Thomas C Clarke and has been noted for its giant colonnade of polished granite.
Developers Bowdena initially signed a J10milllion ($18.4 million) deal with Cavern City Tours to refurbish the derelict Grade II listed site last May, after the plan won J2.3million ($4.2 million) European funding.
