**SIXTIES PARTY**
« on: September 05, 2006, 01:52:17 PM »

Hiya guys!

As part of my on-going birthday celebrations, I have organised a themed "Sixties Night" with live music by the world's greatest Sixties band, THE OVERTURES!!

The event takes place on Saturday 21st October 2006 at the 'Old Windmill' Hall in Upminster from 7:30 till MIDNIGHT. There is a SUBSIDISED BAR and prizes for the best Sixties outfits plus Sixties music throughout the evening and The Overtures of course!!

I thought it would be brilliant if I could share the evening with some of my fellow forum buddies - I only wish I'd thought of it sooner though, because I only have 10 tickets left!!

To recap - this is a "DRESS FOR THE SIXTIES" themed PARTY, featuring LIVE music from The Overtures! Tickets are just 14 pounds for you guys (normally 15 pounds) and obtaining a ticket is dead easy - simply send me an email me and I will sort your tickets out for you! Remember there are only 10 tickets left though!

To order tickets or if you have any queries, please feel free to email me at: the_end_gb@yahoo.com Or you can always PM me here of course!!

And did I mention there is a SUBSIDISED BAR!!!

Speak soon!!

AL ;D

The Overtures are the headlining band EVERY year at Liverpool's Beatle Week Convention (and were again THIS year!). They were also the band that played the music for Elvis Costello's and Sir Elton John's recent weddings (though not to each other of course)!! http://www.theovertures.com/

As much as I would love to come...but I have a gig myself on that particular day. By the way, did you know that Elton John is almost deaf? Oh, that doesn't say anything about the Overtures of course.  ;D

I wish I could come but I'm stuck in Canada :(

The dressing-up part sounds like fun, though... I could make a costume out of stuff from my own closet!

I'm thinking of inviting Mrs Bobber for a weekend to London. Like arriving on Saturday afternoon, some shopping, go to some party, spend Sunday in Hyde Park and fly home on Monday morning. But I'll have to check if the plan can work out.
Oh, by the way, EasyJet flies to Luton! Is that far off central London?

It's no further than any of the other airports, and the transport links are excellent.Shouldn;t be a decincentive. The train takes 30 minutes to central London.I think Easyjet sell cheap tickets once you're on the plane.

Yeah, as Kevin said, it is REALLY straight forward. You can get a Thameslink train from the airport into Kings Cross station which is pretty much the centre of London - from there you go anywhere!

Sorry about that, try this: http://journeyplanner.tfl.gov.uk/user/XSLT_TRIP_REQUEST2?language=en

Enter the name of the station you're leaving from, which is: Luton Airport Parkway
and destination as Kings Cross, and voila your route is all mapped out for you! :)

I checked the EasyJet site and there's other possibilities too. Very handy link, thanks. I'll check with mrs Bobber and the babysit (which is even more important...!). Still tickets available?
