On the original point of the thread, I think late 80s til mid 90s were great for Beatle fans in general.
As Tkitna says, Paul had his revival after a pretty dismal 80s post Tug of War. Also, George came out of hibernation with his hit album Cloud 9, followed by Travelling Wilburys and even did a (gasp) tour, and Ringo emerged from his alcoholism with one of his best albums, Time Takes Time, and started his All Starr Band. And then came the Anthology.
It was the last time we saw the three remaining Beatles as working, relevant musos again. Post anthology George went back to his garden as he battled his illness, leaving it to Paul and Ringo to carry the Beatle flag. They were becoming venerable artefacts rather than really mixing it with the current hitmakers, with some occasional exceptions by Paul.
