half way through ep 5, just continue to be amazed (pun intended as that is the song they are on now).  He has aged a bunch during the pandemic, not touring, I am saddened by the advancement in age.  Maybe it was just recording this, he has many moments were he perks up but also a bunch where he seems so retrospective, lost almost in the songs.

For a minute in the half light I thought Rick Rubin was Martha the sheepdog  ;D

I’ve picked the series up again after a bit of a break. I’m really loving it. Just great to wallow in Paul talking about the Beatles and how they worked.

He is looking older of course. He’s old.

Someone mentioned there was a filter on his neck to hide the ageing. Now I can’t stop watching his throat.

I am, too, and enjoying it a lot.

Thanks for that, Moogmodule—now I won't be able to stop watching, either.  ;)

Filter ?

A camera filter that discreetly blurs or smoothes the area. In the old days they’d use Vaseline on the lens. Now they can do it all in post production.

Has anyone  else who watched this been reminded of another famous artist’s song when they played some excerpts from Maxwells Silver Hammer?

Although I've stayed on top of this thread, I haven't posted any comment about it.  I'm simply not interested in seeing this documentary.

To me, Paul's interviews are boring.  He never says anything interesting or insightful.  I also think he has a lot of false memories (largely based upon what he's read or heard about the history of the Beatles and his life).  Also, I tend to think that we are more appreciative of the Beatles than he is.  I think his focus is mostly upon himself.  He's basically forced to talk about the Beatles because people are always asking him about them.

I haven't been able to get into his recent albums and I can't get into listening to him talk either.

God bless him though.  His songs are everlasting gifts to the world.  I am very appreciative of that.

Even though I posted previously that I was "enjoying it a lot," I have to admit my interest has begun to wane. I'll finish it, though.

All these criticisms are valid. Paul can be a rote in his answers, it’s sad to see him aged etc

But it’s Paul talking about Beatle music with a knowledgeable and accomplished producer. What’s not to enjoy when all is said and done?

You're right Moog, and thats why I had to watch it. But if I hear the story of him driving to Johns house in Weybridge "and do you know we always finished a song" again Grrrr.. hahaha

All the same , its gonna be a big deal when he passes away. If he kicks the bucket before me, I wont miss his solo music one bit but I'll miss him being in the world.

When it came to retelling standard stories, George Martin had a bit of a reputation too …

Well. . . Rick Rubin's fawning attitude, for one.  ;) But then I suppose everyone fawns over Paul. I still plan on finishing the series, nearly done now.

I liked Rick when he was pointing out interesting things from the tapes. But there was a bit of the “wow” fan thing going. Like being seemingly amazed at Paul’s very in-depth tutorial (I’m being a bit sarcastic here)on how to build a chord on the piano. Maybe that’s just how people think they need to act around Paul.

I have two episodes to go.  I’ll finish them soon. I am enjoying.

I think Paul is treated like the British Royal family.....with reverence. Say or do the wrong thing and you're out in the cold  ha2ha

I agree about RR. He reminded me of how fawning Jeff Lynn has been, a tad cringeworthy,
I wouldve liked Paul to spill more beans rather than trot out the old stories. But then again maybe he just cant remember, those 7 years must've gone in a flash.
Wow, imagine living through that from the back streets of Liverpool.
I still maintain that Ringo was the luckiest guy in history.  ha2ha

reportedly Paul stormed out of a Chaos and Creation sessions when Nigel Godrich told him one of his songs sucked.
