I discovered the world of fan edits last year. Watched a cut of T3. Most of them try and fix movies that were rubbish - there’s quite a few of Batman v Superman and Justice League. I follow the fanedit Reddit page.

Oh and Cameron wouldn’t have given approval to the Titanic one. The fans do it all themselves on high tech gear. They aren’t ripping the films off just fixing them if needed. It’s a cool sort of homage to fixing films that were garbage. Not that Titanic was garbage but some fan edits try to condense longer films and tv series

City of Lies
2021
I expected more I must say.
Boring, disjointed. Direction was lacking.

Watched a two part series of War of the Worlds with Robert Carlyle. They managed to take what should be one of the most exciting stories and make it dull and small, leave out many important elements of the book and graft on a gratuitous post-apocalyptic theme which wasn’t in the book.

Tedious.

That’s a film I’ve had the soundtrack for for over 40 years. But never seen the movie. I’ll have to note it down for when I’m looking for something to watch.

You should bump it up your queue, Moogmodule; it's so great. Just one clip after another of performances and interviews, opening with their appearance Smothers Brothers show (where they look heartbreakingly young). Pure Who.

I think I have that dialogue from Smothers Brothers committed to memory I listened to the album so much.

The Hunt
2014
Danish

Wow this is excellent, a very delicate subject, superbly acted by Mads Mikklesen.
I thoroughly recommend.

This sounds really heavy. Might need to be in the mood for it from the description of the plot.

Sad Vacation: The Last Days of Sid and Nancy

Pretty good. I've always felt a bit sorry for Sid Vicious; in all the photos and clips he looks like a lost little boy who needs his mom.  :-\

Gus Van Sant's 1998 remake of Psycho. Truly awful. I was actually cringing watching Vince Vaughn try to do Norman Bates. I made it for 50 minutes and then bailed.

It's taken me a long time to get round to it but last night I watched Tarantino's latest film.
Once upon a time in Hollywood.

For me it was an absolute blinder of a film, superb acting, superb direction. Tarantino is an absolute master of subtle humour and dialogue.
So many parts are memorable, the Bruce Lee scene, the Charles mansion ranch scene, and the final scene which is undoubtedly the best in my opinion.
The chemistry between Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt was superb and in parts extremely funny.
Like when Brad Pitt says "you're Rick f***ing Dalton, don't forget that" :)
Being an old fart, I really enjoyed the late sixties vibe of the film and I'm convinced that Brad Pitt at nearly 60 is still one of the coolest guys on Earth.

I liked that one too. I probably liked it better on second watching as the first time I saw it the first half seemed a bit all over the place and I wasn’t sure where it was going. I thought Di Caprio and Pitt were both terrific in it. Really enjoyable to watch.

The Seventh Day, which my younger daughter and I selected from Netflix (which enthused that said movie was "No. 7 in the U.S. today!") in the hope of finding a scary movie. It was decidedly meh. And my daughter called both main plot points, which I won't describe here because they're spoilers.  ;)
