I was going to hold off on posting this until I've had a chance to read more about it, but I just today became aware of AI apps that can actually write song lyrics. I find this fascinating, so I just thought I'd throw it out here now and see if anyone has any thoughts on it. Here's an example of one of the sites:

I'll have to read the article more slowly later; it looks interesting. Right now, though, I have a cranky author to placate.

OK, so I tried this. I randomly chose Song Topic "anger," Lyrics Genre "pop," and Lyric Mood: "sad." Here's what the app came up with:

I had to laugh at some of these lines. "I let my anger collide with your engine"? Is that supposed to be some sort of sexual innuendo?

I tried it with a free trial of ChatGPT. Asked it to do a song lyric in the style of Bob Dylan. It just produced some generic sounding lyrics that could have been attributed to anyone on a bad day. I should have kept a copy.  I don’t think lyricists are in danger of losing their jobs just yet.

I've been meaning to try a free trial of ChatGPT. Maybe I'll do that tomorrow when I'm supposed to be working.

This is hilarious! It makes me think of all the weird songs my cousin and I used to make up when we were kids. She would have loved this.

I decided to go to the other end of the emotional spectrum and try butterflies as the topic and very happy as the mood. I had to hit the regenerate button five times to get a chorus that isn’t four lines of “Butterflies so sexy”.

Agreed. That's a pretty big drawback. Also, a lot of the lines seem to be non sequiturs.

OK, well, I just had to try a very happy song about Normandie.    I found it too amusing to resist posting the whole thing. I also tried a sad Normandie rap song, but it was too raunchy to post. I'm sitting here alone in front of my PC and still blushing.
