Plus, I'm going with a good friend and her baby granddaughter! I love babies.

Me too, Kathy! I was just watching a video of my friend’s one year old granddaughter. She is so smart and so cute. I hope you have good weather for the parade. We are going to a dog adoption fair in Buffalo Saturday and it’s looking iffy. But I need to find a dog soon. Four months without one is way too long.  :'(

It's raining here, too, and unrelentingly dreary. I sure hope it clears up by tomorrow night, because it's the annual Band Night Parade, and my son's school just got new uniforms. He promised to let me take pictures afterward.  :)  Plus, I'm going with a good friend and her baby granddaughter! I love babies.

I hope the weather was OK for you today, Kelley. Did you find a dog to adopt?

It worked! Well the sunshine was there behind clouds, but we didn't get rained on.

It rained almost the whole way to Buffalo but held off during the event. How about the parade?

We did! He's a five year old Rat Terrier who was found as a stray in West Virginia. I hope we'll be approved. They don't usually come this far but the volunteers were pretty sure an exception could be made.

It sprinkled throughout, but the event stayed on. I have a picture of him; I'll try to upload it.

Yay! I hope you are approved.

What a good-looking son you have, Kathy! What grade is he in this year?

Thanks! He is coming for a visit this coming Wednesday afternoon. He’s been with the rescue for a month without anyone applying for him but now he has two. I was hoping for no competition!

Aw; thanks, Kelley! I think he is good-looking, too, and he used to be sweet but now is in that horrible I-want-nothing-to-do-with-my-mother stage. He's still basically a good kid, though; he's just. . . a teenager.

I hope you get him! We had competition for Bear, too, and I was worried because when we lived in Michigan we bought a Pomeranian from a private breeder, and 5 months later my ex got a job back East. We knew we'd be in a motel until we could find housing, and I already had two toddlers and was pregnant, so I felt the best option for Mickey (the dog) was to give him to a good home. Luckily, the Humane Society understood.

Please let us know how the visit goes.  :)

Yes, he’s still there under all that teenage bravado. They can’t grow up without pushing away some, preferably while they’re still safe.

I understand too. Sometimes it really is in their best interest to be rehomed.

Thanks, Barry! It's actually a mellophone -- or is that the same thing? I don't even know. He plays French horn in the wind orchestra and trumpet in the jazz ensemble. He had two trumpet solos this year, so if you'll pardon the pun, he was pretty jazzed about that. (Please pardon the boasting, too.)

The other people got him. They were preapproved so I guess that means they were first. But we did have the home visit so now we’re approved. I never dreamed it would be so hard to find a dog.

I'm sorry, Kelley. I'm glad that at least you are approved. I hope you find a dog soon.

Lovely sunny day today

Enjoy, Euan! I wish you could send some here. It’s supposed to rain all weekend. Luckily, I don’t work Mondays and it’s supposed to clear up by then.
