In all honesty, how much more money did they need, though?  Think of all they made.

I think this just shows us how wealthy they really were even though they only got a pittens of their true royalty potential!

"Adamzero" It wasn't really a "notion" that they got ripped off it was a cold hard fact! The only reason why they had credibility with the working class is because as children their fans grew up with them and you can still respect an old friend even if he's become filthy rich.

I agree aaplesauce.  It's more than a "notion."  But there are better examples than the Beatles of bands who got ripoffed.  I know a man in a rock-and-roll hall of fame band who has no health insurance, has lost the title to his house (which he now rents from a creditor) and has a car that's about to be repo'd.  A genius of a musician.  Did he make bad decisions?  Yes.  Did the system screw him?  Yes.   Is there anything I can do for him--except maybe help buy him a car after his gets repo'd?  No.

Is capitalism fair? No.  Does our century suck?  Yes.  Is there any great sense of social responsibility in this country to support artists like these?  No.

To quote Pound: "With Usura/no man hath a good house of cut stone"

Yes, it allowed the Beatles to have their cake and eat it too.

Mick Taylor from the Stones played on some of their (arguably) best albums, and he's got squat. He had to sell off his coveted gold albums and guitars just to survive in the '70s, now he's relegated to playing sh*t blues bars and barely getting by. Joe Louis was one of the greatest boxers ever and he spent his last years as a janitor at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. It has nothing to do with Capitalism. Life isn't fair, but who can't use that excuse?

I think Brian was just a bit naive about some of the business dealings.  The Beatles were the first band that branched out into other products besides album sales.

Yes he was "naive", but he also was a little ashamed because he knew he'd taken "advantage" of the lads by getting them to sign over 25% of what they made off their records for "9 years" even if the wasn't managing them at the time.

There are lots of examples of "bands" getting ripped off repo cars, no morgage payments, but the "Beatles" is argueably the 'biggest" ripoff monitarily of all time and this is a cold have black and white fact!
