My friend is always saying that the beatles never had a influence in rock or any kind of music and that they stink  :o Im always telling him they were the first great rock band whats your opinion

Your friend makes me laugh if he actually believes that statement. Ask ANY band out there and they would all tell you that in SOME way they were influenced by The Beatles.

Agreed!

The poster just wanted some reassurance and opinions. Thats all.

As for their importance, even my brother who hates the Beatles recognizes what they did and meant to music.
