Back To The Egg....Paul seems lost as an artist & as a legend at the time trying to stay current while the album cover itself is a masterpiece & Sgt. Pepper lite.

I liked Back to the Egg a great deal.....I figured tkitna would too from the avatar, heh......the worst Paul album is definitely McCartney II.....there's like a good song or two at the start, and then it just delves into the pool of abysmal. Honesty, I was getting a headache listening to some of that crap.

Wild Life was numbingly bad, the kind of suicidal desire bad.
Egg was an overall gret album.

You give Mac 2 way to much credit. 'Waterfalls' is the only song I can take off of the whole album. Even the studio version of 'Coming Up' is horrible. Over all terrible.

Waterfalls and Coming Up are the only songs I like actually......I downloaded the album and put in what I had from Wingspan, so I haven't heard the studio Coming Up.........so yeah, I'd basically agree that there's only one good track. Awful.

Well, from my mostly lacking collection of McCartney albums, I would have to say Press To Play. Right down to the mullet cut on the cover (although I kinda like the song
Press
, but that's the only exception)

For me, it has to be Wildlife with Back To The Egg a close second.

I'm probably going out on a limb here, but in my opinion, the bottom of Paul's studio albums all occured in the 80's.......McCartney II, Pipes of Peace, Press to Play, Give My Regards.....Tug of War and Flowers weren't all that great either....I think he started to lose his creativity after he ended Wings, but we have got the wonderful Driving Rain since then, so who knows....

I was 18 when McCARTNEY II was released and was very into the album then. It's an experimental sound and a try at something different from Paul. I like it.
BACK TO THE EGG is more rockin' - I love it.
WILD LIFE has improved with age, and it feels like a nice picnic out in the woods when you listen to it.
Worst Album? It's DRIVING RAIN! (pee-yooo)

Yeah, I enjoy Driving Rain less with every listen..........Flaming Pie is really his recent release that was amazing......it may even be his best album.....Rain has a new sound that's good at first, but then you realize that the songcraft isn't all that great.......I still like it better than all of his 80's albums though.

I'd say FLAMING PIE is his best 90s album, definitely - though I like OFF THE GROUND a lot.

Yeah, I think DRIVING RAIN was his worst. After that, I'd say PRESS TO PLAY.

I didn't think much of WILD LIFE back then, but I've come to like it now. Very "outdoorsy".
