Had the Beatles ever expressed their opinions on the Rutles? Did they personally know Eric Idle? I know George was friends, obviously,  but what about the others?

I like 'Gonna Need Someone' a lot.  The others i'm not crazy about.  'Adeline' in particular showcases the strain in Ringo's voice and it just doesn't work for me.  I'll give them some more listens, but it's probably not going to get any better for me.

^

That's the first movie I remember seeing, Kathy. I was three years old and so the scenes with the puppets I remember vividly.  Seeing the movie as an adult, I fully understood this story of a sixteen year-old recently orphaned girl coming of age in the circus that took her in and what those puppets meant.

The movie was based on the novelette Love of Seven Dolls...

The novelette was a pleasure to read and the motion picture, a musical, was offbeat for its era.  Superb acting by the cast, especially Leslie Caron who was perfect for the part...

^^^^

That is one scary-looking puppet, Barry. It gives Lady Elaine Fairchilde (the stuff of many a Gen X-er's nightmares) some serious competition.
