The Beatles arrive in Wellington on 21 June 1964. 7000 fans turn up at the airport. The event is documented in one of the earliest colour clips of the Beatles which has never been seen before. The video has emerged recently. The clip shows John, Paul, George and Ringo arriving in Wellington, New Zealand, during their first world tour. beatlesarchive.net

Wonderful footage.
Got me thinking.....in the entire history of air travel, has an individual or a group of people been more ecstatically greeted off a plane than The Beatles?
Amy Johnson? Hitler? Returning soldiers? A football team? I reckon the answer is no one.

That's fantastic, Kelley -- I almost feel is if I were there. I even got a few butterflies in my stomach when that airplane door started to slide up!
Thanks so much for sharing that.

I'm glad it's of interest. I thought I might be the only one who finds this sort of thing amazing. It really does feel like being there, especially since this is exactly the kind of film my dad took of the family. No Beatles in it (my sister would have flipped!) but you get the idea.

I'm glad you enjoyed it KEROUAC. I think most home movies from those days tended to end like that. Most people's cameras didn't have a way to fade out and editing usually involved just splicing reels together. At least that's how it was at my house. LOL
