You're braver than me living in the cold for months........I'd curl up and die I think. 

It hasn't really been by choice. I'd vastly prefer to be back East (or pretty much anywhere except North Dakota). I moved here only because my then-husband was transferred up here by the National Weather Service. Then, after he left, I couldn't bear to introduce any more chaos into the kids' lives—we'd already lived in four states by that point. And now I simply can't afford to move. I'm hoping to increase my workload, get a good laptop, and travel while I work. But I've been saying that for years now with very little progress. Someday I will be somewhere sunny and more cultured. Or at least more sunny.

Good old Lake Erie gave us about a foot of snow last night and today. I hear tell we made the weather segment on this morning’s Today show. (That’s a nationwide show here in the US!) I didn’t see it because I was only sleeping.

The sun was shining through the clouds at the same time, Kelley.  And it was 39ºF so there was nothing to shovel.

It did that here today, too. With lake effect snow it can be snowing really hard one minute and the next it’s blue skies but not today.

And it was 39ºF so there was nothing to shovel.

Balmy! The high here was 23. But the 40s are right around the corner. I hope we don’t get water in the basement when the snow melts.

66 F (~19 C) here today—that is unheard of for North Dakota at this time of year! I think that actually set a record. People were BBQ-ing outdoors.   

I just hope this holds until next week, when I travel to my older daughter's graduation a few hours away. If I get waylaid by a blizzard or an ice storm I am not going to be happy. Fingers crossed.
