Swap Singers
« on: March 17, 2006, 11:18:57 AM »

What song sung by John would you like to hear sung by Paul? And vice versa? Or by George?

I'd like to hear a version of Oh Darling sung by John. He suggested himself it was more like his style. I always felt Paul could have done a great It Won't Be Long.

Any ideas on this?

Great thread -

I'd like to hear a version of

John Singing Helter Skelter
Paul Singing Here Comes The Sun
George Singing It's Only Love
Ringo Singing Flying .. nah, on a serious note - Bad Boy

Funnily enough, to me it has always sounded like Ringo has the dominant Lah lah lah in that track. But I'm not trying to start a "who did the laaaaaaaahs" debate! ;D

Yeah, I have to agree - his very ringo-ish voice breaks through - a great track.
I always imagine he's really into it - like the sing-alongs on the Mystery Bus.

Fixing a Hole--John
I Saw Her Standing There--John (He did it with Elton John)
Dear Prudence--Paul
Hey Jude--Ringo (seriously)
I'm Only Sleeping--George
Something--Paul (he did it on Concert for George, on uke)
The Ballad of John and Yoko--Paul (just to see if he could pull it off without vomiting)

Yeah, and that's the best part of the song.

I'm having a hard time thinking of any songs I'd want them to swap on. I mean, it would be interesting to hear any of them sing another members song, but none I can think of that would make it better. I guess I'd want to hear John singing Oh! Darling just to see if he was right about it being better suited for his voice. Personally, I think Paul did a pretty damn good job himself.

Mr Moonlight by Ringo

Maybe that would have made it more "camp."

Help! by Paul

Paul did perform a medley of Lennon tracks, of which Help! was one, when he appeared in concert at Liverpool's Albert Docksome years back. This performance was released on the CD single of All My Trials, I believe.

Paul to sing Something. I think George's vocal lets the track down.
