Music Trivia
« on: October 24, 2005, 02:31:37 PM »

Another fun thread. Here you can share little known music tidbits with our forum members. I'll start with something you may or may not know:

Cher sang back-up vocals on Be My Baby. In fact she and Sonny Bono met in Phil Spector's studios.

I knew about the meeting but not the backing vocals.

Well on the subject of "Be My Baby", John Lennon recorded a version with Phil Spector.

And off a tangent Steve Marriott recorded a version of the said song too.

-Elton John played piano on the Hollies' 1967 hit 'He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother'.

-Chevy Chase played drums in a band with Donald f**en/Walter Becker from Steely Dan when they were in college. Band's name was 'Bad Rock Band'.

Speaking of Elton John, I still think its funny that Peter Criss tried out for the drum seat in the band. To say the least, Nigel edged him out somewhat.

You got it, my friend.

How about this: On the cover of the Police's 'Ghost In the Machine' there are some digital figures. Do you know what they signify?

Very good. It sounds sensible, but most people overlook it.

What was the first Picture Disc 45?

Probably 'Pyromania' by Def Leppard or whatever album they released that year. Either that or something for the Yuppies to listen to in their BMWs like Phil Collins.

Pyromania came out in '83 or maybe '82. I remember cuz they were my fist concert! I don't think their other albums sold as well, but maybe. I'm gonna guess U2's The Joshua Tree. I think it came out in '87 and MAN was it popular! If not that, maybe Guns N Roses?

Wait! Didn't Michael Jackson's Bad come out around that time? I mean, that one was pretty huge too. Unfortunately. MTV was obsessed with it anyway.
