This little guy has helped me through so many traumas. . . After my son moved out in July 2019 I spent more than a week crying in bed, and he just cuddled up next to me, no questions, no judgment, just unconditional love. It's like he knew exactly what I needed.

Is he a Pomeranian, Kathy?

He is, Barry, and a rescue, no less. My younger daughter came across him at a no-kill shelter, and we happily adopted him. He has brought us untold  happiness.  :)

He looks, and as you described, behaves in a very special way.  He's obviously intelligent as he understands and appreciates that you've rescued him.

Yes, he's a smart little guy, and really so sweet. I'm not really a "dog" person, but he won us all over. And he's not yappy, either. He's so quiet that I've almost tripped over him several times. And he's so tiny that when he jumps (I hate being jumped on by dogs) you can barely feel it, and his little paws only reach my knees.  :)

Good ol' Google Translate.   :)

Anyway, that's Norman Lloyd, a fine actor who passed away earlier this year at age 106.  He played Dr. Daniel Auschlander, Chief of Sevices at St. Eligius Hospital, in one of my favorite TV shows "St. Elsewhere..."

Lots of actors got their start in that series.

I remember St. Elsewhere, and how upset people were at the series finale, which revealed that everything took place in a snow globe held by a child on the autism spectrum. What did you think, Barry?

Kathy, starting in my teenage years, my favorite TV shows were Ben Casey, M*A*S*H, and St. Elsewhere.  I never missed an episode of each.  If I couldn't catch an episode of M*A*S*H or St. Elsewhere because I was on duty, I would set my VCR to tape it.

I knew something odd was going to happen in the final episode of St. Elsewhere.  The entire tone of that episode was strange and very final and so I wasn't surprised at the ending.  The medical consultants used for the show assured correct medical content.  It was entirely plausible that all that I watched over six years could have been the thoughts of that autistic child as he stared into the snow globe.  And I wasn't surprised to see the St. Eligius Hospital building in the snow globe after the snowflakes settled to the bottom.

Here's the final episode in its entirety presented as best as possible on YouTube...

As you said, many viewers were disturbed by this last episode.  I felt differently.  This episode came at a time when the medical field was starting to better understand autism.  It made for much thoughtful and meaningful discussion in the hospital.

Of the three TV series, Ben Casey was my favorite...

Vince Edwards portrayed the young, intense and idealistic neurosurgery resident to perfection.  Ben Casey was my teenage hero.  And I got to live that role in real life years later...

That's me as a chief resident checking the post-op orders my intern wrote as we were waiting for the patient to be extubated prior to taking him to the recovery room.

Great shot HG. I seriously don’t know how someone does a job like that. Must be diabolical at times. I’ve spent more time than I’d like around hospitals recently (thankfully not for me) and I can’t get over the way doctors and nurses work.

Thanks, Kathy and Moog.  The lifestyle was ingrained.  Here I am with my dad at the Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.  He ran one of the clinics at the base hospital...

My intern had a beard so he had to wear that surgical hood.  He did kind of looked like The Eggman dressed like that, didn't he?  :)
