Remastered for the 50th anniversary of McCartney

What a legacy Linda left behind with her photography. And how wonderful that Paul took a turn behind the camera too.

Kelley, I long-admired my sister's first edition of Linda's Pictures which she's kept on her coffee table for years.  Not too long ago, I found this first edition, autographed by Linda, at a book shop.  I just had to buy it!

Wow sounds great. For years I never really rated MIA but then I realised just how good a song it was

It’s not an album I listened to a lot. But the more i do the more I enjoy it. It was probably a little too low key for its time, and there’s some half finished ideas,  but as we have lots of immaculately arranged and produced Macca albums in the last 50 years this one stands out as a effortlessly charming bit of work.

In my car, I have an AM/FM/Cassette/CD radio with a six-disc changer in the trunk.  I have four discs in the changer:

McCartney
Ram
Band On The Run
McCartney II (Yes, I like that album!  :))

Which is why the McCartney CD is in slot #1 in the changer.  :)

It seems like on remasters they try to turn up the volume on all background parts of a song.  So now, you really hear the bass and drums (seemingly situated above your head).  The key part of the song is really Paul's vocal IMO but it sounds scratchy and monotonous to me.  There is no resonance or ambience to it or the song in general.  If it were recorded today, I think the various sound components would blend together better and you'd have more of a surround sound effect.  No matter how they doctor up older recordings, they can't make them sound as atmospherically "big or full" as modern recordings do.
