This may not be news to a lot of folks, but it was to me: Apparently, John's Aunt Mimi's last words were "Hello, John."

Good catch; that one blew right by me. Yeesh.

This caught my eye: "Mimi really did not talk about George. When asked she always changed the subject." Hm. 

Nurse Varcoe's statements about Mimi disparaging John also struck me. I believe I posted elsehwere in this forum, several years ago, how Cynthia, in her book John, really laid Mimi out in lavender, so to speak. She made Mimi sound downright emotionally abusive. Before that, she'd seemed to me merely sharp tongued and strict. Not sure if anyone else who read that book got the same impression.

Thanks for posting this, Normandie.  I can't say that I believe in an afterlife but nonetheless, this is fascinating.

Even if it’s only your mind playing tricks at the last moment, seeing a loved one would be a lot nicer way to go out then a red guy with a pitchfork saying “now you’re mine”.

  OK, now =that= made me actually laugh out loud. This could be the basis for a would-you-rather game, as in, at the end, would you rather see so-and-so, or a red guy with a pitchfork?

Well, now I know that "this boy" was Ringo and "that boy" was George.  Unfortunately, George didn't get a song out of it like Ringo did (nor a movie with him as the main character).
