Ringo & Jim Morrison comparison
« on: June 16, 2022, 06:08:50 PM »

I was just listening to "Hello, I love you" by the Doors.  Jim Morrison's voice reminded me very much of Ringo's singing voice.  I've listened to this song many times in my life, and I never thought of this before.

If anyone else cares to listen, could you agree with me?  Just curious.

^^^^

Just had another listen to it. I, too, hear a resemblance to Ringo's voice.

Hello I Love You sounds too much like All Day And All Of The Night by the Kinks so I never listen to it.  ;D

However I disagree Loco. Jim was a much better singer than Ringo is. He could sing in key. Ringo wavers all over the place, always did.
Never heard Ringo scream either like Jim did, although I've never listened to any Ringo albums so I could be wrong about that.

Normandie:  Thank you.  This was a most unexpected revelation.  I wonder how it would sound if Ringo attempted the song.

Nimrod:  I wasn't thinking of Ringo vs Jim as singers.  It's just the voices that sound similar to me.

Apart from that, no, I don't think Ringo ever screamed but he has shouted from time to time.  Unlike Jim, Ringo doesn't sing anything with deep meanings or with reference to melancholic themes or anger for that matter.

Also, it's somewhat interesting to note that Jim Morrison sang The End and Ringo drummed The End.  Well, I guess that's it for Jim/Ringo comparison time.

Rather, I will digress and compare my truest love to a summer's day.  icon_love

That's how I was thinking of it as well, that is, not in regard to quality, just a general similarity of sound.

I have to say, that is a comparison I never would have dreamed of being made.

I’d never even thought of that. Now I can’t not hear it.
