Downtown is one of my favourite songs of that year, I think. Does anyone know who wrote it? It sounds very Burt Bacharah-ish to me. I'd Google it but now I don't want to prove myself wrong.

Right, Ahme.

Mairi, amongst the songs Tony Hatch wrote for Petula Clark are Downtown, I Know A Place, My Love, A Sign Of The Times, Color My World, I Couldn't Live Without Your Love and Don't Sleep In The Subway.  Tony Hatch and Petula Clark are the British equivalent of Burt Bacharach and Dionne Warwick.

I guess I never looked at this thread before, Barry. I don’t know why; I remember her on the radio when I was little and I’ve always loved her songs. That video you posted eight years to start the thread is so sweet! I had no idea she was a child star.
