Today's sole letter to the editor. This is what passes for erudite conversation here. 

It's that time of year again! That's right, let's drag Main Street. Let's go as early as possible and stay as late as we can. From motorcycles to cars, the bigger the tires, the bigger the engines and of course the louder the music! Gone are the days of DRIVING down Main Street, to enjoy a Pizza Burger Flying Style. But, at least Main Street is still here and Pizza Burgers Flying Style can still be had.

UGH. Why do some men say stupid things they don't mean?

(That's a rhetorical question.)

This customer at work today paid me a completely disingenuous compliment, apparently not realizing, or not caring (probably the former), that I could see right through his mendacity.   

I think he thought he was being clever. I probably should have enlightened him.

Somehow I missed this when you first posted it, Moogmodule. That may very well be the case. Or perhaps they traded shoes for the "devil's lettuce," as I heard one person here phrase it. I don't believe, out of all the euphemisms I heard for marijuana, I'd come across that one before.

I heard from my son!! Just one word, but it's a start. Since I've been so mournful about him here I had to post this.

My heart is soaring with hope. 

Y'all are lucky my modem ran into trouble at my new place and I'm typing on my phone, because otherwise I'd be going on and on (and on).

Thank you, Moogmodule. The move did go well, despite the heat. I'm just so  Ihappy to have heard from my son.  I pray a reconciliation is on the horizon. I figure I'm entitled to approximately 1 million head-kisses and hair ruffles.

Thats great news Kathleen.  Keep plugging along and never give up.  I'm confident your relationship will mend.  It will take some time, but it will mend.

This made me think of another move that didn't go so well: Our second time living in Virginia, the movers never showed. Ugh! We'd even called the Better Business Bureau to check them out before we hired them, in an attempt to make sure something like this wouldn't happen.

I was 8 months pregant with my son, and we had to sleep on the floor the first night. (You'd think my ex would've sprung for an air mattress given that I was so far along, but noooo . . . . Karma will get him someday.)

Random thought tonight.  Life is a series of moments.  Some of them are never experienced, perhaps not even lived.  Yet I occasionally awake from my reverie and discover that I am still conscious and perhaps sentient.  I speculate that if I could collect all of those forgotten moments and put them in a jar that it might look as though it contained nothing at all.

Just a quick update on this, and then I promise to drop this topic forever. My son blocked me yet again on Instagram. I'm on my fourth fake account. I guess that's it. So much for the hoped-for rapprochement. Now I know why my older daughter didn't respond to my gleeful texts the other night. She must have had an inkling.
