George was fond of of mentioning all the things that The Beatles "invented," like MTV and Jimi Hendrix.  But they didn't invent the fuzz bass.  Before the advent of the Tone Bender, musicians altered the circuitry of their amps to produce a fuzz effect...

I always found this song a it too negative for George. Very much a skipple for me, but kinda nice to listen to when you are angry hehe

Tone Bender, volume pedal and knob...they all sounded great!  It was fun hearing these effects when these songs were released.

I like Think For Yourself a lot.  A song in G Major with the use of several chords belonging to a song in G Minor.  George was brilliant in his use of minor keys for many of his songs!

He appears to be berating someone in this song, but I can't figure out who.

The chord progression is actually quite interesting including his use of the parallel minor key chords. But doesn't sound too self consciously complicated. It holds together quite naturally.

I'm sure ive read somewhere who George might have been addressing this too. I'll see if I can dig out the reference.

You can always apply it to the recipient!

Have we already put this in the "Other Lead Than George" list?

Moog, I've read that it had to do with Pete Best's lawsuit.  George was enigmatic when interviewed years later stating it had to do with the UK government.  But that was Taxman.  Who knows!?  Maybe it was Pattie.

Nah, you're not a crab. At least you're not when you're here and that's all that matters to us.  ;D

Happy Christmas!

Quick question.....has anyone heard 'Christmas Time Is Here Again' on the radio or when in a shop this year?

Gary Crowley played it once last year on his BBC London show (I almost fell over when he did!) but in the last 18 years I could count on one hand how many times I've heard it away from my copy of the 1995 single.

Maybe if Apple had put it out as an A-side in December 1996 instead of hiding it on the 'Free As A Bird' release (another strange decision) it would be better known?

Either way, I'd have thought that a ridiculously catchy Xmas song by the biggest group ever would have had more plays.
As it is, I believe it to be a genuine 'rarity' that 99% of people don't know exists and/or have never heard.

I rarely listen to the music radio. It's usually a Hobsons choice between trendy hip hop or bland golden.

But I do have Christmas Time is Here Again on my own iTunes playlist.
