I have recently purchased a Sony STR-D197 and it is excellent and very affordable-- about $150.
The way the features work is incredible and the sound is tops. The only thing it doesn't have is a switch function-- an accessory that does this can be purchased at Radio Shack. I have found that I prefer listening to almost all music where the stereo channels have been reversed from the way that they were originally recorded.
I might add that the way the Sony Bass Boost system works is absoulely necessary for bringing out Paul especially on most of the early records.
