Well, I just went out to ride my horse and my cousin had changed my bit to one my horse had never used for some reason, so I went around the barrels at a dead run and she started rearing and I almost fell off. And then she spooked from the fence and freaked out. So yah, I am a little shakey at the moment lol

I did check the saddle and that before I mounted, and I had already told her I wanted to keep the curb bit on, and she said fine. But she went and put the snaffle on anyways. And thats a pretty drastic change in bits

The snaffle is easier on the horse's mouth but if she's used to the curb bit I guess the snaffle bit was distracting her.

Yah, and I am just starting to get into games so everyone was saying "Put the wonder bit on her!" but I liked doing them with the curb, so it might have been me just not being used to it.

edit: The curb was westren style with a medium port

I ride English and use a single-jointed eggbutt snaffle. My horse responds to direct and indirect rein. I keep those aids light and concentrate on shifting my weight and leg aids. My horse goes where I look!

Mhm, we have tons of bits laying around sinse my mom and oldest cousin used to get green horses and break them for people. We have every type of bit you can think of, but for some reason our current horses are on a hackamore and a basic curb

but the thing is my horse works of legs so much that when my mom gets on her she just puts a hay bale string around her neck and goes. So bits don't really matter so much for her. But I'm gonna have to convince them to just let me use the curb

My aunt used to have a HUGE quarter horse named Cedar and he was on one of these:

A 3 ring double jointed French snaffle (that may not be the totally correct name, but oh well)
