Ugh. I have been so plagued by waves of sadness. This time of year is always difficult but this is the worst in a while. We all feel the sadness of the 9/11 anniversary, then for me it’s directly followed by 9/12. That’s the anniversary of the day that I lost my big brother and suddenly stopped being someone’s sister. Now the 10th can be added because my cousin’s son died last Thursday. And...just now I heard from my eldest cousin’s wife and found out that he’s been suffering from dementia like my mom did. I feel so terrible that I didn’t ask him the questions I have about our family and, more importantly that we haven’t stayed in touch. Sorry to be such a downer. I’ve learned to be somewhat pragmatic and focus on good memories but this is an emotional pile on! I know what my brother would say. He’d tell me to go watch Blazing Saddles. Or else he’d tell me a joke. I’m open to any additional funny movie suggestions or a humorous anecdote, if anyone happens to have one.
