Concert For George
« on: December 20, 2004, 10:45:39 PM »

I bought Concert for George a couple days ago and I thing it was a wonderful tribute to George Harrison. All the performers did excellent and I found out Tom Hanks was one of the mounties when they sang the Lumberjack Song.

I only saw it on PBS where I'm sure there was a lot cut out.
What I DID see was fantastic!
I'm hoping Santa brings me the DVD for CHRISTmas!!!!!!!

Yes, I also picked it up a couple months ago, it looked interesting. It's quite the performance. I loved all the performers(and was quite over joyed to see petty involved).

Me too! I just started weeping when "Here Comes the Sun" started and didn't stop. I've also joined the Dhani Harrison fan club.

I got it last year. The DVD package is excellent, with one disc of the full concert and the second disc of the feature film that had theatrical release some time after the concert.

Highlights:

Handle with Care with Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne
Photograph with Ringo
Something & All Things Must Pass with Paul
While My Guitar Gently Weeps with Clapton on guitar and Paul on piano
Isn't It A pity with Billy Preston
Here Comes The Sun with Joe Brown
Taxman by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

and many more

I cannot recommend this DVD highly enough. It's just brilliant.

Ditto everything that Neil said. Also, Billy singing My Sweet Lord is just brilliant.

I watch this at least once a year in remembrance. Gooseflesh and tears always ensue.

I wrote a rave review for this on Amazon. It's such a wonderful, moving performance. I can't watch it sitting, either. Once the bands come in, I have to be on my feet for the rest.

Absolutely, Paul. His speech at the end-- short, sweet, and dignified. Both Dhani and Olivia rock. :)

Bobber, you are encouraging vice.  >:( ;D

Seriously, I try to buy things whenever I can. What else will keep my favorite artists in business? That said, I have bought several albums after listening to them through the kindness of strangers.
