I know Eric Idle knew George well, but did the other Python members know the Beatles well? I can't imagine someone like Cleese interacting with Lennon, for example.

Just finished watching Let It Be on Disney + and have to say it looks and sounds brilliant. I’ve had a bootleg DVD copy since 2005 so I’ve seen this film a few times but it’s not great quality so I don’t really watch it that much in its entirety except watch The Rooftop Concert. I really hope Let It Be gets a DVD & Blue Ray release it’s what Beatles fans would love . If you haven’t seen it at all I would recommend it. Both Let It Be & Get Back are set in the same period they are both totally different.

It looks like a new music video of Let It Be premieres today.

Had a look at the first half on Disney.  The picture and sound is a huge improvement over my crappy early 2000s bootleg. Jackson has avoided the washed out, heavily treated appearance that was evident in some of the Get Back footage. It just looks like a good quality film.

The film itself up to the formal studio performances and the rooftop seems more like a trailer to Get Back now but it moves along quickly and works better than I remember it.

Well, this is only tangentially about the Beatles but a couple of nights ago I dreamt I was sitting somewhere with Tom Petty. . . .

That sounds like an interesting dream.  :)

I said yeah I saw you backing Dylan in 86 (which is true)

That must have been great!! I'm jealous. I've seen Dylan twice, but not with Tom Petty. That would have been fantastic.

You have some interesting wishes and hopes then Normandie  ;D

Well, this is only tangentially about the Beatles but a couple of nights ago I dreamt I was sitting somewhere with Tom Petty. He asked if anyone (there were vaguely other people in the room) had seen him and the Heartbreakers play back in the 80s. He seemed to be wanting to know if we thought they were good compared to today. I said yeah I saw you backing Dylan in 86 (which is true)  and said you were great. He had a pile of vinyls he’d just bought at some second hand record store. The first one on top was the George Harrison self titled album. I said that’s a great album and flicked through the other although I can’t recall what else was there. I then thought maybe I should have asked before I went rifling through his albums as he didn’t look happy that I was manhandling them.  ha2ha
