Song Facts Game
« on: March 21, 2007, 03:16:31 PM »

I saw this on beatleboards dot com and thought it was a fun and educating game! So, now that I've mentioned the source of this, I'll try to explain the rules of this game. As a start, I will mention a Beatles song (which can also be a solo effort) plus a fact about the song. Anybody can fill in other facts about that song. The one who mentioned the fifth fact, can in addition call a new song and the game starts over again. Capice?

Alright.

I'll start with I Want To Hold Your Hand

1. It was the first #1 for the Beatles in the USA.

4. The line 'Georgia's always on my mind' is inspired by the Ray Charles song Georgia On My Mind. It has a double meaning, since Georgia was also a part of the U.S.S.R.

1. Working title was Auntie Gin's Theme, because Paul's aunt liked the song so much.

Not exactly "making fun of...". Mike Love of the Beach Boys, who was in India with the Beatles, claims it was his idea to include the California Girls reference.

2. With the exception of I Want To Hold Your Hand, this is the only Lennon/McCartney composition that mentions a part of the body in the song title.

3. I've Just Seen A Face was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London ... and in the same session another two Paul's songs were recorded too: Yesterday and I'm Down (June 14, 1965).

5. George Martin recorded it as Auntie Gin's Theme on his own "Help!" album (= not the Beatles album).

Next song: Here Comes The Sun.
