You can buy ONE Beatles CD for your friend who is interested in hearing the Beatles' music.  Which CD do you buy for your friend, and why?

I picked "Help!" while thinking of my friends--none of whom are big Beatles fans, but they enjoy listening to their music casually.  I just imagine that they'd enjoy the pop music on the album, and it's a nice way to start newer fans on Beatles music.  But this is my choice if I needed to pick a proper Beatles album from your list.  (Why isn't "AHDN" listed, BTW?)

As far as compilations go, I would choose the Red Album.  That's how I got started as a fan and I absolutely loved the music!!  Highly recommended for new fans. ;)

Revolver: a bit like 'the best of both worlds'.

Yeah. I don't think the White Album is a good place to start.

What I first remember hearing is off of Please Please Me, after that I got into songs off of Let It Be, but I don't think Let It Be would be a good place to start either.  I think a new listener would be confused by the different sounds to it, how everybody was going to their own distinct sound.  So therefore I think Please Please Me would be a good place to start.

I chose 'Rubber Soul' as I think it bridges the older and newer phases of their work nicely. One might say the same for 'Revolver', but I think that one leans a bit further towards their newer direction. Of course, I think this would also depend largely on the friends' particular musical tastes. Still, I think this is a good start for anyone and might lead them to look both forward and back at their overall body of work.

If I wanted to buy one cd of the Beatles for a friend, be it they never really listened to the Beatles or never really "understood" them, it would be "Beatles 1".  It has the whole spectrum of their career on that one cd.  From there, they can pick and choose others for their discovery.

I picked Beatles 1 'cause that's the first one I heard and it made me obsessed (I'm actually listening to it right now, coincidentally). My best friend hates the Beatles believe it or not (I think she does just to make me mad, honestly), and I'm considering making her listen to this. 'Cause she's never really heard any of their songs, so she has nothing to base her opinion on. But, she heard She Loves You on my answering machine, and said it's not a bad song. So, I think the One album is a good one 'cause it covers all of their stuff, from beginning to end.

I'm not sure if I'd give them Beatles 1.  Sure it has my love, Hey Jude, but it has none of the other greats off of the white album, of course it wouldn't have anything off of Sgt Peppers since none of the songs were released as singles.  And I think that it's really unfortunate that there weren't more George songs.  Again, with it being their #1 singles it's not completly possible but it would be really nice to have seen a greater variety.  I still say Please Please Me and then go onto something like Help!, Rubber Soul or Revolver.

I would buy Help! for my friend because my friend and i used to watch Help! the movie in my house and that's what made her like The Beatles. So if i give her a Help! cd then she'd remember all the things weve done together including watching Help! i remember we didn't do our project, we just watched Help all afternoon

I voted for the Blue Album.  Most of my friend like rock/alternative rock and I think this would be a good beginner's place to start if you have that taste.

I'd get them "1" as it's the most accessible.
