Yeah but it's hard to say since you didn't really know him personally.

I hate pciking but this is easy! :) John John John, I love Paul, but everytime I watch Let It Be, when Paul yells at John for not playing how he wants him to play, asdrfghjkl it makes me mad haha and that's a lot of the reaons I don't like Paul, he took over the band when it was originaly John's. (Just my opinion, please don't yell! :) )

McCartney just wanted songs a certain way.  You could tell that McCartney didn't know he was being demeaning until Harrison told him and said, "Whatever it'll take to please you, I'll do it."

McCartney, being the guy he is (wow, that doesn't have any bias in it, does it?  :P), learned from that and later in the movie you can see.  I remember him talking to Harrison and the rest of the band and saying something like, "I think this should go here.  Well, I'll tell you what -- we'll play it, and I'll yell where I think it should go, and if you guys don't agree..." So he's willing to get an opinion from the band in that case.  And then Harrison considers making a break for a solo, and McCartney seems to oblige.

I don't think McCartney tries to be a bad person, and it really shows when, as you see in the movie, he's not TRYING to get under anyone's skin -- he just does.

I think Paul had to direct proceedings more in recording sessions as they were increasingly under the influence of drugs.
Someone had to do it, or sometimes I imagine, John could have just stayed tripped out on his sofa 'Safe as milk' as he was once quoted and maybe doin a Brian Wilson, Syd Barrett and not really coming back. Who knows?
Agree with Frightwolf. Paul was tryin to be positive in an air of cynacism which was getting them all nowhere. They had to pull something out the bag. Sometimes that over-enthusiasm/problem solving can be interpreted for pushiness.
Paul kept their band together, probably thinkin, as in a team, if one dips you help pick em up.

John was too preoccupied with drugs and Yoko at the time to care about the Beatles. If Paul didn't take over, who would? I think it was in their best interests.

Yes yes I agree with you all, ^^ but Paul's always been my very least favorite, I guess I just see it differently, maybe, I dunno, Paul just seemed to get a little too.... *looks for a word* cocky I guess near the end, and it's hard for me to look at that positivly because I see it as a part, maybe just a small part, but none the less a part of why they broke up, plus I don't like Paul very much to begin with heh heh :).

I always thought of John as being the cocky one. Not that there's anything wrong with that, that's just the way I percieved him.
Paul has better solo carriere...so i think he's much better (He has angel voice)
Better is relative....
In fact, McCartney had really more time for his career, cause he didn't choose to educate his son instead of writing and recording songs and albums, like John did. In Linda he had probably a wife, who allowed him to concentrate on his career and on his family, John maybe didn't have that chance, because Yoko went into business, saying "I gave birth to Sean, now you have to educate him.."
The other reason I don't have to explain, John had to finish his career in 1980. Who knows, what he would have had written and recorded, if..........................

The rest is everyone's personal taste. I can't say I like Paul more than John, concerning their solo career, they were as differnt and good, as they were into the Beatles. Happy Xmas, war is over

Its impossible to choose. Both where detrimental to the band. The influence they had on each other created the perfect song writing partnership. I think if they had not met, they probably would have had to forget about their silly childhood dreams of becoming a rock n roll star and get a normal job like anyone else! Can you imagine Paul as your local doctor or John as a rip off car mechanic in Liverpool.

The difference is when most 50 od year old men meet down the pubs in Liverpool talking about how they could have been the next Elvis. John and Paul did one more and emulated him!

But just for the fun of it I chose Paul. After all in the end he was more committed to the band.

I can totally see it! He would charm people into buying pieces of junk to fund his record collection. This gives me a good idea for a story. Hmmm.

Well, since I can't pick Harrison, I would have to go with Lennon.
