The Beatles Show celebrates the Beatles 50 years

In March of 1957, just weeks after getting his first guitar, John Lennon started a band that, after a number of personnel and name changes, would evolve into The Beatles.

The Beatles Show, the nationally syndicated radio program, will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the birth of The Beatles, starting the weekend of March 2nd, with an eight part series called "The Beatles 50 Most Memorable Moments". The '50 Moments' consist of the creative, commercial and personal events...both group and solo...that have highlighted their career and shaped their legend.

"It literally took us months to put this list together", said the show's creator and host, Casey Piotrowski. "And there were some raised eyebrows and raised voices along the way. And once the list of 50 was put together, changes were continually made "even while I was in the middle of writing one of the shows", said Piotrowski.

The group of 50 will be presented as a countdown...moving from the 50th 'Most Memorable Moment' to #1. The shows will feature a great deal of specially produced music...from existing Beatles' tracks...in addition to essays explaining the significance of each of the 50 Most Memorable Moments. "I'm always very proud of what we do week to week, but the writing and the production on this group of shows is the best we've ever done", added Piotrowski.

Everything a fan of The Beatles would expect to find on the list is probably there. But, "with The Beatles, of course, there are always a few surprises...and that'll be the fun in it...finding out what's where', said Piotrowski.

The fun for Piotrowski, though, was in putting the list together. "I've always known what a great story The Beatles were, but what this series showed me was that that story was really made up of fifty great stories."

The Beatles Show is syndicated by Charlie Window Productions and is currently carried on the following radio stations.

Sometimes I can understand why non-beatle people would just love to grab a Sgt Pepper Album (Gatefold Mono original pressing of course) and ram it up our collective ars*s. Seems hardly a week goes by without some anniversary/reissue popping up.
Shall we have a go at guessing Beatle Memorable Moment Number One?
Seeing as they're americans I'm going for the 1st Ed Sullivan Telecast.

I bet there will be more events coming up, celebrating the fiftiest birthday of whatever in Beatles history. By stating that The Beatles started on the day John and Paul met, on July 6th 1957, there will be a lot. That's why I started a thread about it. Just for collecting purposes.

50 years....

Imagine if they were both here.... it would have been great!

They would still have been friends....greatest writing partnership of all time... one of the weirdest friendships of all time...but they did love each other...

Here's to John and Paul!  ;)

Today is also the second anniversary of the London 7/7 bombings in 2005. And on 3rd July was the anniversary of Jim Morrison's death..

Sad times indeed!

The Queen noticed!  ;D

HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN saluted the BEATLES on Sunday (08Jul07) with a special personal message commemorating the 50th anniversary of the legendary band's beginnings. She noted the anniversary "with much pleasure" and sent "my best wishes to all concerned for a most enjoyable and successful occasion." The historic moment that led to the formation of the Beatles occurred on Saturday 6th July 1957 when a 16-year-old John Lennon met a just- turned-15 Paul MCCartney at a church garden fete in Liverpool. The message from Her Majesty the Queen was sent to the people of Liverpool who gathered at the site for a re-creation of the original event. Beatles scholar Martin Lewis, who received the message from Her Majesty, said: "This anniversary marks a momentous occasion in popular culture that literally changed the world. Without Lennon meeting MCCartney we would not have had the Beatles as we know them."

Nothing against you, Harihead, but the Queen saying "Without Lennon meeting MCCartney we would not have had the Beatles as we know them" is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard.  What kind of Beatles would we have had?   Ringo-led Beatles featuring Rory Storm?  John Lennon and the Flaming Pies?   Paul McCartney and his Kudzu Orchestra?

But maybe there's something more sinister here . . . .

As I've said before, "reptilian!" ;D

LOL! Thanks, Adamzero. I needed the laugh.

What can you say? She's trying! Cheers.
