I can completely sympathize, Kelley; the pollen and thus allergies have been terrible here, too. My ex and I have been trying to find an OTC remedy for my older daughter before the ACT this Saturday. Claritin does not help her; neither does Allegra. Benadryl's out because she'll probably fall asleep during the test! We're trying Zyrtec this week, and if that doesn't help I might see if she can get some kind of prescription. Poor thing, she's been miserably sneezy (and stuffy).

Poor thing! The only thing I can tolerate is Flonase. It works quite well for nasal and sinus symptoms but it takes a few days to kick in. If she started it tomorrow she might feel better by Saturday. It's OTC now but if it helps her and she wants to continue she can get a prescription for the generic. It's pretty expensive to get the name brand OTC but it sounds like it would be worth it once. I hope she feels better!

Thank you, Kelley, I will take your advice! She's trying the Zyrtec tonight over at her father's, and if that doesn't work I'll grab her some OTC Flonase tomorrow. I suppose if worse comes to worst I can take her to a walk-in clinic. These college board exams are expensive ($50+), so I want her in top shape.

Thanks again.  :)

You're welcome Kathy but I hope the Zyrtec does the trick for her so you don't have to spend anymore money. They should sell sampler packs of antihistamines!

The weather here is unsettling: It's an exact replica of the weather on 9/11 in the DC area, where we were living at the time. Even the temperature is the same.   :'(

Kathy, I was also struck by the similarity between our weather today and 14 years ago. That really contributed to the surreal feeling of that day for me. How the weather have been so spectacularly beautiful on such a horrendous day?

That is exactly what I thought that day! I remember going outside on the front step and wondering how such horror could be playing out in while the sun was shining and the sky was such a gorgeous shade of blue. Surreal is the perfect word.

Did you (or anyone on this forum) see the photo that was taken last evening of the rainbow that looked like it ended (or began?) at the new WTC building? I got choked up.

Think about the horrors playing out all over the world today when you looked at that blue sky and shining sun this morning.

That's a given, knowing the kind of person you are Kathy.

Manhattan Island was closed off for a couple of days after the attack.  Only doctors, nurses, hospital workers and emergency personnel were allowed in.  I had to show my hospital ID badge to a soldier at the checkpoint.  It was eerie crossing the George Washington Bridge the next day to get to my hospital.  I was the only one driving on the bridge that morning during what would ordinarily be rush hour.

Each time I cross the George Washington Bridge I think of that day.

I do indeed.

It was a rhetorical comment, Kathleen.  I know you do.  And you also witnessed the attack firsthand.
