Well, it's Something New to have temperatures in the 60s in late December around here.
If it's Something New, your weather must be Getting Better

CST is 7:20:08 AM  Temp is -12.7 (C)  Wind Chill is -8.9 (C)  15 mph WNW  Sunny sky!  Extreme cold warning - limit outdoor activity.  The parking lot in back of my apartment building is un-shoveled and all the cars are thickly covered with snow.  There is a red jeep parked next to a garage that stands out from everything - this little patch of red in all that white!  There's a plot of trees but they all look dead - no leaves - just barren black branches against that muted bland blue sky with a tint of milky white hazy clouds bordering the horizon that touches the earth.  Funny how it's white close to earth but blue as you look further up.  Aren't the clouds supposed to be up there and not down here?

I can't open my blinds because they seem to help block out the cold.  I can feel a draft so I'll have to close them.

I bet before long we'll have a warming spell and I'll see climate change articles associated with that.  I don't know what to think because I'm not a scientist and I'm also not a denier.  How can I be when I don't know enough to deny what scientists say?

Anyway, time for breakfast.  I'd love to have a Beatles-style breakfast but I think it'd have to be British and I don't exactly know what constitutes a British Breakfast.  Can anyone assist me with this?  Thanks!

Aww! Like my mother would always tell me after a long sleep, that's okay; you must have needed it. :)

My mom used to say that, too!  ha2ha  There must be certain phrases that are unique to all moms, such as the example you just gave, "Don't rush, you'll make mistakes," etc.

Well, it hit 60 today and over the last few hours dropped to 36 heading for a low of 26 overnight.

Mother Nature seems to be having some mood swings lately.

Does anyone on here live in NYC? My daughter and I will be visiting from 12/21 thru 12/26 and I'm wondering what to expect weather-wise...

Thanks in advance for any early weather reports/predictions...

I'll say! It's almost 30 degrees colder tonight than it was last night. Mother Nature decided to make our driveway an ice rink. I'm glad I finally bought myself a pair of Yaktrax. I hope that's not considered trying to fool Mother Nature.

We've got black ice this morning and freezing exhaust fumes which generate them.  I think that's how the weatherman explained it.  This is extremely slippery stuff and we've got a lot of accidents this morning because of it.  It's also -13.3 °C -8 °F.  I can't understand people who walk their dogs in this kind of weather.  I think people naturally think they're immune to frostbite.  That just happens to other people, I'm sure, but not them.

From Wiki:  Black ice, sometimes called clear ice, refers to a thin coating of glaze ice on a surface, especially on roads. The ice itself is not black, but virtually transparent, allowing the often black road below to be seen through it.

We've had some huge tropical storms recently,  one with damaging hailstones the size of golf balls

It's almost Christmas so the lovely Poinciana trees are in full bloom

^^^^^

That tree is so beautiful, Kevin!

We have another storm blowing in on Christmas Day. Now I have a big chunk of work to finish, holiday shopping to finish, and -- ugh -- groceries to stock up on. I loathe crowds, so it should be an interesting couple of days.

Wait, did someone say "Twilight Zone marathon"?  I'll need to stock up for that, too.  ;D

Yes.  And remember, Kathleen, there is nothing in the dark that isn't there when the lights are on.

That's what scares me!  ;)

The National Weather Service has now issued a blizzard watch for Christmas Day, so if I can make it through the stores today and tomorrow without belting someone, all will be good.
