this may cause a few eyebrows to be raised, but i must confess to really disliking bob dylans' music.i have really tried with it,but i just cannot hear the genius that other people hear.some of his songs are great-but not when he sings them.so.........how do i compare paul to bob dylan is a bit of a no-brainer.macca knocks mr.zimmerman into a large, cocked hat.

But Dylan's vocal is one of the reasons so many people did get in to him. He was the punk on the street corner, sneering at the world. He showed that rock and roll didn't have to be about pitch perfect singing or elaborate production. His vocals and rejection of anything other than a live sound meant he was never going to be commercially successful as The Beatles (or Macca.). But he was so hugely influential (and brilliant) that he deserves to stand alongside The Beatles as the most important act of his generation.
I can go along with that...I just don't dig him enough to plough through the albums.
