A little obsessed. I've never been one for collecting Beatles mugs or finding out what Ringo had for breakfast on a certain but from 14-16, i listened exclusively to them, learned all the rythym guitar and bass for their songs and read endless books on them. it wasn't something i ever thought about, i just did it. Only downside is that other music tends to pale next to them melody-wise but i do like a lot of other stuff.
Quick word about Oasis. i'd like to sat that that Beatles-copiers tag was a media hype that Joe public who knows b'all about music chose to believe because they weren't likeable public figures. they certainly had a beatles-type optimism about their music but that's a good thing, isn't it?? i should note that they did do 4 incredibly blatant steals of riffs/sections.
1-'Don't Look Back In Anger' intro exactly like 'Imagine' intro
2- 'Cigs & Alcohol' riff exactly the same as 'Get It On' riff
3- 'Hello' chorus exactly the same as 'Hello' by the Glitter band
4- 'She's Electric' outro exactly the same as 'With a little help from my friends'
A few playful steals of small snatches of other songs is hardly copying a band is it? I'm sure any musicians on this forum would agree they were a bit hard done by. Sorry to break off the point by the way, it just came to me.
