Very cool. I have 5 or 6 CDs of his early material. Good Ol' R & B stuff for the most part. I didn't know he played at Shea as an opening act for, well, take a wild guess. Also, to think that the Squires signed a contract in June of 1966, who'da thunk that in one short year he'd be playing 'Sgt Pepper' in front of Paul, Clapton, Townshend, etc. Chas Chandler doesn't get enough credit for his ear.

Agreed.  Chas was hocking guitars to promote Hendrix early on.

theres a pic of john and paul in the audience watching hendrix play somewhere i think it might be montery, and they just look stunned! i would like to see that photo so if anyone has a link, please post.. ;D

chas probally had jimis best interest at heart in the beginning but it changed later on...
