I wish I could have been around in the sixties to see that, my dad did though. Lucky person...
I'm insanely interested in this kind of stuff! I have my heart set on NASA and a career in space flight.

Yeah, glorious times. I think younger people forget too that all this drama was backdropped by the Cold War, when it felt very important as to which side dominated space first. The thought of the Soviets getting to the moon first was genuinely scary.
I actually remember Apollo 13 much more vividly. The headline "Peril In Space" was the biggest I've ever seen, taking up half the page of the Evening Post.

I remember my parents letting me sit up all night to watch this. And I got the day off school the next day. One of the most memorable things in my early life, if not THE most memorable.

It certainly was a great step for the whole world. I also wish I was there to see it live on TV
I remembered of Forrest Gump, when the TV is on with the man walking on the moon with the song "Aquarious (Let The Sunshine)" and nobody's watching it because they all are concentrated on Forrest's ping-pong game!

My memories of that day are equally vivid, Dave. Several of my cousins and I sat in front of the TV watching this all day.
