Thanks, Todd and Barry. I can't take any credit; one of the kids snapped that. I'm not fast enough with a smartphone. By the time I realized it'd be a cute shot, got my phone, and pulled up the camera app, Bear would've been long gone.  ;)

I agree about the marching bands, and thanks, Kevin. I tried to persuade all three kids to try out for drum major, but they weren't having it.

Great pics Kath.  My son was a drummer in the marching band and I still think marching bands should be used at NFL halftime shows instead of hiring big acts.

Thanks, Todd. I think I remember you posting a pic of your son in his marching band uniform; I'll have to dig that up.

I agree with you about marching bands instead of big-name acts during halftime shows. I'm one of those people who can't walk and chew gum at the same time, so the synchrony always impresses me.

Yes they are, Kathy!  Playing their instruments flawlessly and at the same time keeping in step with those complicated marching patterns they memorized takes an enormous amount of skill and dedication.  They are indeed "The Pride of the Buckeyes!"

How lucky you are to have seen them in person!

Wow, he sure would have. I just watched it. Amazing. I even felt a stirring of patriotism, which I must say has not been on the radar all this year. What a fantastic performance.

Todd, that is so cool that your son played drums. Seems like one of the most fun instruments to play in a marching band.

Jeffrey also was part of his school's steel drum band. Now that was fun, so casual and carefree. Unfortunately I do not have a video of the school's band. He also did Wind Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble. I'd be hard pressed to name a favorite among marching band, jazz ensemble, and steel drum. They were all fun.

So did I, Kathy.  Sousa was a master at stirring patriotic feelings with his march tunes.  He's not called "The March King" for nothing.  ;)
