Shadow In The Cloud

This movie was so over the top and bad that I actually didnt mind it.  I like Chloe Grace Moretz, but I hope she doesnt take to many roles like this in the future.

WW1, climbing on the outside of a plane, fighting the enemy, and ohh,,,,,,,,,,,a vampire bat gremlin too.  Whats there not to like?
err.. I'll give that a miss

I dont know Kev, I think you owe it to yourself to check out some of the crazy stuff that went on.

***SPOILERS***

Check how she clings and climbs on the bottom of a plane with a jacked up shoulder and broken fingers.
Check how she falls out of the plane but an exploding enemy plane blows her back in.
Check how she fights the man sized gremlin after a plane crash while the men look on.
Check how she casually starts breastfeeding her baby right after the fight.

***SPOILERS***

Come on Kev, you can do it.   ha2ha

Zabriskie point
A movie from the 70s takes place around death valley in the USA about a couple who meet and form a relationship.
Music by The Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd
Quite an interesting film to watch ID say.

Sounds interesting.  Will probably give this a shot.

Greenland

Typical armageddon movie, but very well acted.  Liked it a lot, but wasnt crazy about the ending.  There's worse ways to spend a couple hours.

Thanks for sharing your opinion, Todd. I've been waffling about watching this; I may give it a go. I'm not a big fan of apocolypse-type movies, but the trailer looked good.

Just snagged four Formby films:

'Feather Your Nest'
'He Snoops to Conquer'
'Keep Fit'
'Trouble Brewing'

That other George, who is famously another fan, is more than welcome to float by and enjoy the Formby Fest with us.

The Midnight sky
2020
I've heard a lot of negativity about this movie principally that nothing much happens and it's slow and boring.
After watching it I can appreciate why people are saying this, it is slow the pacing is terrible and there's hardly any story to grab onto.
However I quite enjoyed it, it's a beautifull looking film in that the special effects are superb.
I don't think George Clooney is a great director as I say the pacing was terrible the acting on board the spacecraft in my opinion was second-rate. This is the kind of film where everyone speaks in self-serious, borderline parodic register as they fret over the fate of humanity, and George seemed liked the only classy actor in the whole thing.
The Neil Diamond sing-along was cringeworthy.
PS.
I've decided to read the book, it's very good.

I've passed on this one due to the reviews.  Still might give it a go.

News To The World

Tom Hanks goes from town to town reading newspapers from different cities back in the old west.  Comes across a little girl along his travels that was apparently raised by Indians for a period of time.  Tom tries to get her back to her family.

I found it boring.  Hanks delivers as usual, but the movie lacked energy and action.  It was alright, but I wouldnt rush to see it.

The Stand 2020. Ugh. I actually made it through only about 40 minutes of the first installment, so I'm not sure it qualifies as a movie I've seen.

James Marsden as Stu Redman? Nope. That role will always belong to Gary Sinise in my opinion.

I'll stick with the 1994 version or, better yet, the book.

Is this the new tv series ? I watched the first episode and didn’t mind it although the constant flashbacks, including flashbacks within flashbacks, would be pretty confusing if I didn’t know the story so well. I do love the story. I’ve read the book three times I think. It was the first book I read after leaving school and kicked me off on my horror/ sci-fi obsession of my early adulthood.

Yes, the new series. Maybe I should give it another try. I see the episodes are being released weekly.

I agree, the flashback combinations would be completely confusing to someone who is not already familiar with the plot. I wonder if any viewers were literally lost that way (i.e., confused and then gave up).

I just found this sentence on Wikipedia in one of the episode write-ups: As a child, Nadine used a planchette and contacted Flagg who promised to make her his queen. Just a planchette? No ouija board, not even a hand-drawn one?  ;)

Speaking of Stephen King adaptations, yesterday I stumbled across Thinner (1996). It was surprisingly good. Nothing earth shattering, but decent.

I've been meaning to track that one down, Kevin, but I'd forgotten. It's back on my radar now.  :)

That’s the one that won the Oscar isn’t it? I saw it at the movies. I thought it was just a zany comedy at first, then ...

It is very good.

Haven’t seen that one. I’ll have to get around to all the various King movies at some point.  They are a bit variable admittedly. I recall one called Maximum Overdrive that King also directed back in the early 80s which even he agreed was a turkey.
