Yesterday I had to drive by myself for an airport pickup. I played Disc 1 of the White Album on the way. Full bore volume. This is the CD from the Beatles breadbox collection.

My god it sounded good. And I loved singing along.   The first 3 songs hit you like a 10 pound sledge

I've had the Esher Demos for nearly 30 years or so, but this was possibly a 4th or 5th generation copy and there was an all pervading distortion.  If it was an electric recording, it can sometimes add to the recording, but on this occasion with the recordings being acoustic, it was detrimental to the enjoyment.  Now, with first-rate recordings, and the inclusion of ALL the songs*, it really is a treasure and rather beautiful.  For that alone, the whole White Album package is worth the money.  ;yes

*One thing that really gets my goat (and I don't even have a goat), is, as an example, the omission of 1 or 2 songs from the Swedish Radio.  This recording is imho the best recording to survive of the Beatles really whipping up a frenzy from a crowd.  Now the Esher Demos is presented more or less complete.

Has anybody noticed that the bass is missing from George's "Sour Milk Sea"? I really wish that the band did a fully realised recording, fit for release.
