The White Album is the Beatles finest.
« on: June 24, 2004, 03:59:17 PM »

The Beatles(White Album) released in 68 is the Beatles at their finest since it's creatively, musically & artistically a masterpiece of epic proportions which gets overshadowed by the highly overrated Sgt. Pepper even though it's a solid rock & roll album despite the friction inside the band at the time since this classic rock album represents the third & final phase of the Beatles with more emphasis on rock than pop.  The White Album defines the Beatles during the late 60's with their music, their haircuts, their image & their outspoken attitude more so than Abbey Road & Let It Be from the same period because of great tracks like Back In The USSR, Dear Prudence, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, I'm So Tired, Blackbird, Piggies, Don't Pass Me By, Julia, Revolution 1, Sexy Sadie, Yer Blues, Savoy Truffle & Helter Skelter which are a far cry from their early 60's albums Please Please Me & With The Beatles.  The Beatles(White Album ) is one of the greatest double albums of all time or single CD's these days if I'm not correct which showcase why the Beatles became one of the greatest rock groups of the 60's even though some of of my fellow Beatles fans will probably disagree with me but there's no denying that the White Album shouldn't be ignored by any dedicated rock fan because this classic rock album will rock your brains & blow your mind at the same time.

No, it is certainly not.  In fact it's virtually my least favorite Beatle album.

However, Wayne is certainly not alone.  That and Abbey Road consistently rank at the top of most people's list.

They're just all wrong. :)

White Album is nearly flawless.....hampered down a great deal by the final two tracks....if you took those away, you probably could fit it all onto one disc....

Bruno, that White Album collection on the Torrent's site is a must. It's alternate takes, cut songs (Sour Milk Sea, etc..) and unplugged versions. Definitely a nice twist on an old favorite.

The White Album has so many tracks, got to love it.  It is classic and much better SOME of the earlier work but my favorite album changes weekly.

The White Album has always been my favorite.  I can't think of any album more epic in all of rock history, besides maybe Led Zeppelin I.  Hey, Wayne and I finally agree on something!  Oh how I love the White Album!

I love "Don't Pass Me By" actually, strawberryfields67.....Ringo was right in being annoyed that they waited so long to record it.

My favorite album is not the white album, though i do enjoy it.

All The Beatles albums are great. The White Album is my favorite because it has the most Beatles music on it. It's got quality and quantity. John,Paul, and George all have great and distinctly different songs on it.  "While My Guitar Gently Weeps","Happiness is a Warm Gun",and "Back in the USSR" are my favorite songs on the album, but I like nearly all the other songs too. "Dear Prudence","Julia","I'm So Tired","Blackbird",and "Obladi,Oblada" are among my favorite Beatles songs ever. The other songs are all fun to listen to. If I want a laugh or am in a country mood,I'll listen to "Rocky Racoon" and "Don't Pass Me By". If I want to hear something way out ,of course I'll put "Revolution # 9" on. For hard rock or blues there's "Yer Blues","Helter Skelter","Birthday",and "Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except for Me and My Monkey". "Savoy Truffle" and "Piggies" are fun and well done George songs if I want a dose of Harrisongs. And so on and so forth. It has something for everybody and every mood. I love it.

My favorite album is 'Magical Mystery Tour', but I have to say that Wayne is right about the diversity and quality of material on the 'White Album', especially given the circumstances they were recording under, and a double album to boot. Listening to the Mono CD version of it right now. Interesting mixes. Anyways, the Beatles discs that I pop in really go along with whatever mood I'm in or what period of their career hits the spot at that particular moment.
