Non Paul songs - base parts
« on: September 11, 2018, 03:54:41 PM »

So it is well documented that on Paul's songs, he would instruct George on what/how to play to George's frustration.

On George's songs, take While My Guitar Gently Weeps for instance, how did the baseline come to be?  Would George ever dare to instruct Paul?  Say, "no, no, I would like you to play it something like this..."

I can't imagine he did or if he ever did would he have received some wrath from Paul?

Back to WMGGW, the methodical base/drum rythym - did Paul likely create it as George introduced them to the song and his vision or did George already have that in mind and led Paul and Ringo to it?

It’s a pretty basic bass line.  I wouldn’t be surprised if Paul didn’t actually play it. Doesn’t sound melodic enough for him but it suits the song. Maybe John did it?

I seem to remember reading that George didnt like Pauls fussy bass line on 'Something' and requested something simpler.

Maybe he thought Paul was taking over the song. However it is truly a wonderful bass line/melody.

Paul is so musical.
