You're welcome, DaveRam and Bobber!
Its interesting how George says he doesn't like his early singing on the first take acoustic version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Is this the same take on Anthology 3, and the Love album with GM's strings, I wonder?
I know! Isn't this astonishing?
But it has to be the same take. "Toilet singing" indeed!
I think it just goes to show we can't be objective about ourselves. My personal theory is John and Paul and George M were at pains to tell George how limited his singing was, and he started to believe it. It takes a lot of confidence to put out anything creatively; the more confident you are, the better the work often is.
Objectively I don't think he improved over time as much as recovered his confidence. When I hear him singing on the early BBC Live stuff, he's as confident as any of them.
