Ringo Starr Heads To Downloads
« on: June 19, 2007, 07:05:50 AM »

EMI Records has resigned Beatles drummer Ringo Starr and will finally start to release his solo career catalogue digitally.

The deal will also coincide with the reissues of his early catalogue, ringtones and DVD.

The announcement comes off the back of the recently announced Paul McCartney download deal.

"It's good to be back," said Ringo Starr. "It feels like home, just like Liverpool 8."

The deal will also include a new compilation album on CD, a compilation of Ringo's videos on DVD and Ringo ringtones.

The tracks will be available on August 28th.

Rotogravure could almost be called a Beatle reunion, but not quite. As per the Ringo album, each ex-Beatle contributed a song, and session work was provided by Paul (Pure Gold) and John (Cookin\'). George didn\'t appear on the album but he did contribute the album\'s outstanding track, I\'ll Still Love You. I hope they re-issue this as my tape copy is fuzzy.

Ringo could be as popular as he used to be during the early 70's as a solo artist with all his albums joining the digital download revolution.  I think Rotogravure is an average album but A Dose Of Rock & Roll should have been a hit.
