What a song :)

I think it reflects Lennon perfectly.

Lots of people here can't stand it ... I'm not one of them: I love Guys For Sale (my favourite album by The Guys)  8)

Chuck Berry's version is handshake.
The Beach Boys' is a slap in the back
The Beatles' is a punch in the gut.

Great song, but I like the Beatles the best.

I never liked it, although it was on their repertoire since 1957 till almost the very end.

I love Rock And Roll Music (the song too) ...

A bad day again? ... I've read -in threads from the past- how some people said not good things precisely about this cover ... I can't remember the threads or all the usernames (I would never say the nick of any username here, -as you may understand-, tho I remembered 'cos this is not  exactly for a good thing) ...

If you think that my expression Lots of people here can't stand it is not the correct one (I was not saying "almost everybody here" but certainly more than one: lots) ... I'm changing it for: More than one person here can't stand it.

If you think that my expression Don't worry about search! We all have been news here at some time! is not correct (news here is a pun ... in sunnish a new person is just nuevo=new (adjective but a noun at the same time) ... so I putted together the idea of being a new member here and being good -of course- news precisely for that ... I also tried to excuse him for not knowing -it's understandable- about the antecedents of opinion here about the song) ...

P.S. I usually don't explain so much ... not to bore people, y'know, ... but there are cases and cases ... here it seemed that an explanation was needed.

I doubt it pc.

Here's what Lewisohn says :

A scintillating one-take recording of Chuck Berry's 'RARM', with a slightly echoed Lennon vocal, all the Beatles on their familiar instruments and George Martin again displaying his prowess as a rock'n'roll pianist. No overdubs, just a magnificent live performance.

So here we've got another discrepancy with DM's site ... as I said before on another thread I DO doubt DM's site about this kind of things.

http://dmbeatles.com/song.php?id=216

I've always thought (because I read it somewhere) that this was recorded live just in one take ... and that Sir George played the piano ... if he was the only one who played it it's a very good performance -more than good, considering who made it-. Anyway, why three playing the same piano? It doesn't sound diferent than played just by only a two-handed person, does it?

I agree with zipp ... and Mark too (tho I'm not one of his faithful fans)

One source with the three of them on piano:
http://perso.wanadoo.es/sissu/maingear.htm

Another one with only Sir George:
http://www.upv.es/~ecabrera/

"A magnificent 'live' rendition of Chuck Berry's song. Performed by the four Beatles plus Martin on piano, the track shows how much they loved to play live, and how sad it probably was for them to have to perform singing out of key or without hearing themselves on stage."
AMEN! (thumbsup)

Whoever played what Lennons vocal has got to go down as one of his best.

As far as can tell there is only one guitar on the track and i can imagine John singing without being plugged in and thrashing out some chords on his 325. That would free George up for Bass leaving Paul and George Martin on Piano?? I dont know... just a loose guess.

Yep, that's the link I've posted ... one that I like a lot ... but there are some mistakes on that one (in my humble opinion) ...

http://dmbeatles.com/cgi-bin/Blah/Blah.pl?b-cc/m-1098136827/s-15/

so I can't believe in all that it's on it ... nor in another one ... nor in Mark just by definition or as a rule ... if you're right pc31, then Mark's work is awful pretending to be The Bible (I do wish you were right! ... just to pull down prejudices about his work)

I wonder how they managed to play that piano part that we can hear on the song by all of them at the same time without lots of mistakes ... if they did it it's one of the most awesome things done in their recording career ... but after all they were the Fab Four so two of them were more than enough to such a thing ... and if they had help, imagine! LOL!

Does anybody know where we can found it? Any interview where John spoke about songs with The Guys?
