Pros and Cons of each Beatle
« on: May 01, 2010, 10:05:09 PM »

I always here of how Paul is too controlling, and John was a bad father, but I never hear anything bad about George or Ringo.

What would you say are the pros and cons of each beatle (especially George and Ringo)

Why not?
What concerns George, first his bad habit of excessive smoking and drinking.
Second, he preferred to withdraw into himself and harbour offences instead of coming out with them. Once he did though, at long last!, and it was at the Let It Be session. If he had done so before, he might have been given more say in the band. Too inactive, really too quiet.

I'm retracting my original post. I just dont feel like dragging the lads through the dirt anymore. They were people that made big mistakes like the rest of us so they get a pass,,,,,,,,,today.

Tkitna! I agree with you! Whatever their drawbacks, and they were and are human, they were great and very talented. If they had had no faults they would have been mummies or dull and boring personalities. But they weren`t!!!  ;yes

Pros:
-Paul holds the group together, writes a majority of the material, and was very faithful to Linda.
-John started the group in the first place, also wrote many of the hits, and had very creative ideas.
-George blended other world cultures into certain songs, played recognizable lead guitar, and wrote memorable hits.
-Ringo was neutral in any sort of fight The Beatles had, was very experimental with drumming, and was reasonable if any problems occured.

Cons:
- Paul was too controlling over the group, a bit pretentious, and caused a bit of strain that lasted more than it should have.
-John could be too cynical, disobeyed certain rules the group agreed to earlier, and was unfaithful towards Cynthia.
-George was withdrawn, his admiration for Indian culture stood in the way of other things in his life, and held grudges.
-Ringo had a heavy alcohol problem at one point, and he didn't do as much songwriting as the others.

Not so well done. The dice is loaded with outsider perspective.

The fact is John was trapped in a loveless unwanted marriage. His 'affair' was an escape from a life he didn't want, to one that he did want.

P.S. Cynth rules...!

I agree with you! I also think that John in the first place didn`t want to marry Cynthia, but he had to, and then "was trapped"... But nevertheless he was unfaithful, which is a CON.

True, he didn't want to be in that marriage, but he could have been nicer about getting out of it. I.E., saying "Hey, Cyn, it's not working out, I want a divorce" instead of letting her find him in bed with another woman.
