Ringo vs Macca
(Monday July 11, 2005 11:11 AM)

Paul McCartney has come underfire from Ringo Starr, after the former Beatle revealed his disappointment at not being invited to play at Live 8.

Sir Macca opened the show in London two weeks ago, performing "Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club" with U2, including Larry Mullen on drums.

McCartney, who also closed the concert with a rendition of "The Long And Winding Road", was joined by a horn section during the opening track, dressed in "Sgt Pepper

I feel for Ringo as it was such a huge world stage and a one-off opportunity. Breaking up U2 for the gig would have been awkward. Just a can of worms really. I havn't heard Abe Laboriel complaining. hehehe

I love Ringo, I really do, but he does tend get a bit down in the dumps and needs to sort out his self-esteem issues. How can he not believe how popular and respected he is?
Maybe it's the way he was handled as a Beatle...Who knows? If only George and John were around. Would they have got up for the gig? I can dream. lol

Chin up Ringo. Your a legend already. ;)

But I've read several places that RINGO didn't want to do anything together for Live 8...

It'd have been really cool if Ringo had shown up in the audience wearing his Sgt. Pepper suit.  Probably would have gotten more airtime on MTV/VH1 than the music did.
