Mmm. Strange. Maybe the upper picture was used for promotional purposes: it shows the Sgt Pepper sleeve in a proper way. Anyone who hasn't got the album as it was released, won't recognize the inner sleeve, as shown on the original picture. The Sgt Pepper cover is a unique selling point in itself.

sometimes I am glad to have grown up with LPs, my Godmother gave me her issue of Sgt Pepper which she bought then. It contains those little cardboard thingies (fake moustache and stuff), the issue I bought when I was younger....didn't contain those gimmicks anymore - pity.

I always wondered about Johns necklace - typical hippie thing I guess.
